For as long as I can remember, I've known that I wanted to go to college. In our house, it became a goal that we worked together as a family to make happen. Since it's been an active expectation for so many years, it has provided the opportunity to make future financial plans. This long-term approach worked very well with CollegeInvest, particularly with the age-based portfolios. 

Years ago, when my parents began putting money into my CollegeInvest account, it was invested more aggressively with a higher proportion of stock. Gradually, it began to convert to a lower risk portfolio with more money being put in bonds. As I prepare to go to college in the fall, I am very grateful for the CollegeInvest program. Not only did my parents receive a tax advantage with my college funds but now, despite the recent downturn in the markets caused by the lending crisis, I don't have to worry about the balance in my account. CollegeInvest made it easy for my parents to put money aside for my education; it provided a structure that could protect it.

After a CollegeInvest representative visited our school and gave us a speech about CollegeInvest and how they can help high school students plan for college and even since I heard about the opportunity offered beyond the high school level, I was encouraged to take the speech and put it into work and start my way to accomplishing those goals of being able to go on and get a college education.

Coming from a difficult financial situation, this scholarship will enable me to focus on my education as well as experiencing all the lessons that college has to offer. I have a daughter - Amanda who is attending Northeastern Junior College.  I also will have another daughter attending college this fall.  Amanda obtained her student loan through you - CollegeInvest.  She also obtained additional funding as well.  If it wasn't for the option to borrow the money needed, she would not have been able to attend college this year.  We weren't able to save enough money to completely pay for her college tuition, and the loans you offered were just what she needed. 

My daughter that is attending college this fall will definitely be applying for her funding if necessary through you.  I was unaware that this was available until we attended the college finance help that was offered at our high school. 

By the way, my daughter is having the time of her life at school!!

The CollegeInvest website has been extremely helpful to us in locating potential scholarships - some that we had not found in other scholarship searches.  We are hopeful that our daughter will receive some of that aid.  In addition, we were pleased to understand that she qualified to receive rollover funds from the other two children’s accounts.  We have set up a 529 plan for her now to help fund some of the college expenses.

Today, we returned from another family trip.  Rather than a grand family trip, this time we were traveling to visit three colleges that interest our now seventeen year old son.  As we traveled home, one of our primary discussions was about the cost of each of the schools, and how we would be able to finance the expense.  We discussed the money that had collected in the CollegeInvest 529 account, but we didn’t know exactly how much had been saved over the years.  As we pulled into our neighborhood, we stopped to get the mail.  In the pile of mail was a summary of our CollegeInvest 529 account.  Instead of being enough to pay for his books the first semester, the account is large enough to pay tuition for the first year!
